Partnership Models What It Means to be a “Technologically Adept School”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – FEBRUARY 21, 2017 CHARLOTTE, NC: Charlotte Lab School (CLS) and Tresata announced a partnership that will bring additional technology into public school classrooms in Charlotte. CLS and Tresata share a strong commitment to integrating technology into elementary education and helping students develop 21st century skills. Both parties hope to increase the use of technology in the CLS science curriculum, specifically, and in the school community, overall. CLS Founder and Head of School Dr. Mary Moss Brown offered the following comments on the new venture. “Working together, we share of goal of developing a model for what it means to be a ‘technologically adept school.’ For CLS, this doesn’t simply mean every child has a device, rather we focus on enhancing the learning experience with the right device.” This relationship will also augment the STEM and Maker curriculum at Charlotte Lab School by enhancing our intellectual knowledge base. “We have always been energized by the power education has to shape the future, our future” said Abhishek Mehta, CEO of Tresata “and in the Charlotte Lab School we found a partner who is equally energized by it.  Their vision to personalize education for each student is a lovely extension of our promise to Enrich Life, and we are excited by how our powerful analytics platform can enable the same and empower kids to be successful individuals.” Through this partnership, Tresata is also becoming the lead technology sponsor for the school, making a big commitment to their Maker lab, robotics and STEM initiatives, as well as adapting its analytics software to solve for educations biggest challenges. “The support that Tresata will give to CLS over the next 5 years, including donation of equipment, talent and professional development, event sponsorship, and more, will enable the school to provide a truly innovative and personalized learning environment, preparing our students for the college and the global workplace” says Moss Brown. “Public-private partnership such as this one are a key ingredient to improving public education for all.” About Charlotte Lab School Charlotte Lab School (CLS) is a diverse, public k-8 charter school seeking to close the mobility and opportunity gaps in Charlotte, NC through innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and supporting whole child development.
